Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween indeed! Abby willingly put on her costume and buzzed around downtown Edmonds just like the beautiful little bee of my dreams! She was so happy to see so many loved ones and she sure loved getting to play at the beach in her bee costume... it's not every day that you get an unexpected sunny day and the world's cutest bee and lumber jack at the beach on Halloween. What a happy day!

Pumpkins

I don't remember the last time I carved a pumpkin, but now that Abby is old enough to sort of participate in pumpkin carving we decided this was the year to make it a new family tradition. Abby wasn't sure what to make of the icky pumpkin insides and she didn't care much about the carving, but she does like to see the jack-o-lantern and say BOO! so I'd say it was a hit.

Abby is ready for some cider and pumpkin carving!

That is until she sees what the inside of the pumpkin actually looks like...

She's had a change of heart, she's going to try putting her hand in...

Not so bad!

Look! Even Sammy got into the Halloween spirit! What a good sport. :)

Peak-A-Boo!

Trick or treat?

I think Abby likes tricks as much as she likes treats!

Trick or Treat

Tonight was our first costume occasion for Halloween 2010. It started with a lot of tears and ended with a lot of fun... whew! As I wrestled her into her bee costume I was pretty sure that it was not worth effort, but then we had a really good time and Abby definitely enjoyed running through the Greek system dressed up as a bee... I guess we may have a little gamma phi on our hands after all.

I love Abby's new bangs. I think she looks so old and so cute.

Giant fans, Giants fans...

Charlie is a big Giants fan and Abby and I are just giant fans of baseball and things that Charlie likes, so here she is trying her hardest to inspire a rally during last night's game. I think these two might be the cutest fans the Giants have.

Ummm... Dad, that hat scares me.

Just let me touch it to see if it has rally cap power...

Okay, it will work! Now let me put on my rally cap!

Is it working? I can't watch!

It didn't quite work last night, but we know we have work to do tomorrow. Go Giants!

We miss you highchair

Abby has been pretty adamant about sitting in a chair and not her highchair lately... it's pretty sad for me, because I like to move around the kitchen while she's in her highchair and this girl will suddenly stand up and dance or rock back and forth on a chair so you have to keep a close eye on her. I can still get her in her chair if I can prove in advance that baked beans are going on that tray, but I can't possibly feed her baked beans for every meal... I'm not giving up yet, but I think I'm losing ground every day.

Pumpkin Patch!

I love the Fall. I think the trees are beautiful, I love the produce, my expectations for the weather are a lot lower so I'm continually excited about the weather... it really is the best time of year if you ask me. So today we headed to the pumpkin patch with Eli, Auntie Kelsey and Meme. I wish you could hear how Abby says Auntie Kelsey. I can't even type it out phonetically, it's too weird, but it's awfully cute.

Abby and Meme talking pumpkins...

Can we get this one?? Please!

Let's get the third one down! Have you ever seen a cuter pumpkin?

Future farm hand

Eli is the best cousin ever.

This is the best we can do. At least we all look happy...

Nice hustle Abby!

We love the pumpkin patch!

We are Morning People

I've always been a morning person. I really don't mind waking up early, in fact, I generally feel more energized when I wake up early then I do if I sleep in too late... it's something Abby must have inherited because she is an early bird. It's a good thing we're both that way because we have a great little morning routine. We watch a little TV (I know, I know... no TV till 2, but I broke that rule and now Abby and I need just a little bit of Chica and the Sunshine Barn in the morning), then we go downstairs, eat our breakfast and then I read a little bit of the paper and drink coffee while Abby plays. The last few mornings she's enjoyed sorting her hot wheels and reading through my cookbooks. I love Abby and I love to watch her play.

Sometimes she can't help herself she just has to see if maybe one of these pictures is actually going to taste as good as it looks!

Happy October!

My dear friend Roberta gave us some beautiful new chairs that her very talented Dad made. It's been sunny the last few days so we've got some use out of them. Guess who likes them the best?
