Sunshine!!!

We are loving this weather. I'm a lifelong Seattleite and in my experience, if we are going to have a decent Spring and/or Summer then February will include at least a couple of gloriously sunny, somewhat unseasonably warm weather days. I don't know if the record books would back me up on this, but I can definitely tell you that last couple Februaries have featured no sunny, warm days and we were decidedly lacking in sunny warm Spring/Summer weather for 2010 and 2011. You can trust me on this since I'm obsessed with the weather and Abby was born in 2009, that year was great in February and March and the Spring and Summer of 2009 was UNBELIEVABLE weather wise so I can at least site that. Hopefully that convinced you that we are in for more sunny weather. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed!

Here we are enjoying the sun at Magnuson park.

Snow Days...

I love them and I hate them. We have definitely been making the best of it and with the help of my blessed in laws down the street I can say I've loved these snow days way more than I've hated them. But then again, I CAN'T wait to leave this house for real! I feel like I haven't been to the gym or the village in 2 years. I also can't help but recall the last time we were snowed in and I sat on the couch and read and cooked and did whatever I wanted! Ah... those are the days, but watching endless episodes of Downton Abbey is just as fun as playing dress ups and polly pocket for hours on end. Right.

Day 1: I really thought this was all we were going to get and Abby was determined to use her sled.

Day 2: all ready getting a little stir crazy.

Day 3: building a playground with pillows takes up hours, thank God!

Day 4, 5 and 6: dressing up Sammy as Frenchy (Abby really wants Sammy to be the dog from Fancy Nancy) and lots of visits from Cinderella. She's so cute.

We really can't wait to get back to school, little gym and all our usual stuff. Melt snow, melt!

Abby & Zoey

Zoey's mom took these and I had to post them because they are cute and it's so rare now a days to get Abby to cooperate for a picture. She smiles constantly, but for pictures she perfected this blank look and she always figures out how to look away from the camera in a way that makes her look forlorn and possibly disturbed - pretty much the exact opposite of how she looks in real life. I love it.

The Holidays!

We had a very full and wonderful Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year. I should have done a much better job of documenting it... oh well, I will be a better blogger in 2012.

Abby loves window crayons... I love that she loves them and that they keep her quiet and busy for a surprisingly long time, but then you have to wash the windows and I hate washing windows.

This is our elf, Beetle. Abby loves Beetle and after we found him every morning I had to tuck him into this little bed Abby found and then she would bring him things.

Oh boy! Abby's big Hannukah present was (and still is) a big hit. Who wants to plan a slumber party??

Sammy, so shaggy, so beautiful.

Christmas morning! Look what Santa brought Abby... a barbie cooter (at least that's what Abby calls it).

This was the Christmas of dress up clothes. This is the pose Abby struck when asked to "look like a mermaid" - pretty good, huh?

My personal favorite is the pretend wedding dress. Abby knows a surprising amount about weddings for someone who has never been to one. She knew to throw the bouquet over her shoulder and she asked Charlie to walk her down the aisle. I think Charlie almost cried.

And this is Abby on the last day of Hanukkah when I asked her to please smile for a picture.

I almost forgot about Santa. Abby once again was terrified of him. She was so excited and told me on the way there that she was going to talk to him, sit on his lap, and make her silly face. But once she actually saw him she was horrified and refused to get near him. I am crouched, out of site behind the chair trying to keep my balance while hoisting all 35 lbs. of Abby Malley above my head. Let's hope for better next year.
