Abby Four Eyes Malley

Abby comes from some pretty bad genes vision wise, so it was especially funny when we noticed that she was doing this at dinner tonight. It looks like she has a feeling that glasses may be in her future and is just trying it out to see if it works for her. I'd say she's going to be one cute baby girl, glasses or not!

Abby LOVES Sammy

You can kind of see Abby in the background. If you were there you would have seen her smiling and squirming like a crazy baby who is absolutely infatuated with the best dog in the world, Sammy Doodle Malley.

Abby and Daddy

I think they look alike. To me it's the eyes and the ears... what do you think?

Clean little chickadee

Abby loves getting a bath and she looks so cute in her chickadee towel afterwards. I love a clean baby!

Abby acting like a big girl.

Abby went in her stroller without her car seat last night. Look how happy she is!

Single Moms... how do they do it?

I have new found respect for single Moms out there... Charlie was out of town this morning and I had to get ready for work, get Abby ready, pack her bag for 9 hours away from home and get her and her stroller to her Bubbe's house, all while feeding the dog, feeding her, making sure the dog pooped, cleaning up Abby's unfortunately timed messy diaper and getting myself ready to go! I tell you, it was a juggling act and I only have one baby and it was jeans day! If I had more than one or had to actually look professional, I don't know how I could of done it. So as a reward I took advantage of the Spa at Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale pedicure. It's an hour and 15 minute pedicure that is usually $65 on sale for $30. Such a great deal and I just made an appointment yesterday and got in today, so I recommend you call them now! Oh, you could go next week when it's really hot. Sit in the AC and enjoy a luxurious pedicure... how great does that sound?

New Window!

Our house got all new windows this week. I have to admit, windows as a home improvement project, would have been at the bottom of my list if I was in charge, so I was a little bored by the idea of new windows, but now that they're in... I love them! It's so quiet in our house and although it's been dramatically cooler the last few days so it's hard to really tell, I think it actually will be cooler than before. We'll see next week when it's supposed to be in the mid-90's...

The other exciting thing is that we will soon have a new window in our bedroom. I don't know what they were thinking in 1939 when they built our house, but it definitely needed a window on both sides of the bed. So we're having one put in. Of course they opened up the wall and found electrical wiring so we're about 4 weeks out from having an actual window, but I know it's going to be worth the wait!

So long cubicle life!

I am 3 work days away from being a full time Mom and I'm really excited. It was a harder decision than I had thought it would be but I love staying home with Abby so I know it's the right thing to do. So goodbye cubicle, goodbye messy desk, goodbye extended lunch break... Ahhhhh, now who wants to set up some play dates?

Go Woodpeckers!

Charlie is on a softball team called the Woodpeckers. At the start of the season I made Abby a little Woodpeckers onesie to show her team spirit. The back is cute too, it says "Abby Daddy's #1 Fan". She LOVES to chear on her Daddy and the Woodpeckers too! Good luck in the playoffs Woodpeckers!

If you ever need to make a onesie, go to this site, it was fun, easy to make and it came in 3 days!

We love summer!

Somehow I have become a photographer... well, maybe it's more accurate to just say I take A LOT of pictures of Abby, and I am often the family photographer. As a result there are very few pics of Abby and I together. This weekend I finally got Charlie behind the camera and here are a few pics of Abby and I waiting for our guest to arrive for a little fiesta.

We used our summer organic produce delivery to make pork chops with peaches glazed in honey and bourbon, ice tea with plums and thyme (from my herb garden!) and cherries for a quick little sauce for Trader Joe's cheesecake... so good!

Ice Tea with Plums and Thyme

Make some black tea and add a little honey, chill it, add sliced plums and some thyme sprigs. Serve over ice. I liked it even more when I added a slice of lemon and a splash of simple syrup, but I like things sweet.

We also had margaritas, they looked so pretty I had to take a picture.

Let's Play Sammy!

Abby has really started to notice Sammy. It's so cute to see her smile when Sammy licks her or she gets "whooshed" by a swift breeze from Sammy's wagging tail. I do wish she had some sort of built in defense against Sammy's frequent kisses, but Abby really seems to get a kick out of it, so I guess I should relax and accept that I can only do so much to stop the dog kisses. If this were a video and not just a pic you could see Abby waving her arms and legs crazily and making an owl sound, which is a sure sign that Abby loves her best friend Sammy!

Back at work...

This is Abby on a "Smile Strike" because I'm back at work.
(Yeah right, this baby is all smiles whether she is with me or oscar the grouch)

I'm back at work this week. It's only 3 days a week, so the rational part of me knows that I shouldn't complain, but it's still really, really hard!! (Most of me is not rational, usually I want to whine like a 10 year old girl when I'm sad about something). So anyway, on my work days I really miss Abby (and Sammy too).

I should also say that I am really lucky not to be worried about Abby because she has been in excellent care thanks to my team of helpers. Thank you, THANK YOU, Mom/Meme, Auntie Kelsey and Uncle Pete, and Kate/Bubbe. I don't know what I would do without you guys!

The ABIGAIL Sweater

Charlie's office gave us this beautiful hand knitted sweater when Abby was born. It says ABIGAIL on the front and I remember when we got it, it was so big it seemed Abby would never fit into it. Well guess who is now big enough to rock the ABIGAIL sweater? Check her out. Very cute.

Chit Chat...

Look at Abby gabbing with her new toy. I've named this little hula dancing monkey Lola. I think she might be Abby's new best friend. Doesn't it look like they are gossiping about the other toys?

Go Team!

Check out Abby's new Husky gear! Abby's Bubbe found these at Marshall's... Thanks Kate, we love it!

Abby's 4 Month Stats...

Guess what?! I'm almost 4 months old!

She isn't officially 4 months old until the 13th I suppose, but nonetheless, we had our 4 month check up and I have to share!

Abby is just over 2 feet tall and in the 58th percentile for height. I have to admit, I thought she was looking a little tall for her age, but I guess she's pretty average so far. She really excels at head size though, edging out most other babies and joining the big heads in the 83 percentile. She's also a bit of a heavy weight in the 77th percentile for weight. We are very proud of our little Abby. Here's a run-down of other Abby facts:

* Definitely one of the smiliest, happiest babies I've ever met. She loves to smile at strangers and loved ones alike and often makes a contented sighing noise that is one of the most priceless things you can ever hope to hear. No laughing or giggling yet, but we're pretty consistently getting a "HA!" sound followed by a big open mouth expression of pure glee.
* Really strong legs, she LOVES to stand, and take steps while you are holding her and kick her legs like crazy when she's really happy.
* This girl loves her binky... and so do her mom and dad.
* Quite the mover and the shaker, can roll over both ways and can scoot, but really only does it if she loses her binky.

Abby can move...

As I was blogging Abby moved from the comfort of her little monkey mat gym to the corner of the mat completely away from the toys. She was very proud of herself and so am I!

Fashion Show!

Abby is getting her picture taken tomorrow at Yuen Lui (for all you local moms they are running a special, you get 1 8x10, 2 3x5s and a bunch of wallets for $29.95) so I had to go on a mini-shopping spree for a new picture perfect outfit. I promise that I will not go so far as to become one of those Toddlers and Tiaras moms (if you haven't ever watched this TLC show, good for you, but you may want to watch just a snippet to see how crazy these moms are) but I did have to get Abby to "try" each dress to see which one would be the best. She was all smiles during this process I think I may have a little beauty queen on my hands. Which one do you think she should wear? I think I'm going to go with the yellow one... something about pink and yellow is all summer to me.
